Mobile Backhaul Management Catalyst
Implementing standards-based OSS for Cable MSOs
Nakina Systems will be participating in the upcoming Mobile Backhaul Management Catalyst at TMForum Management World Americas this coming November in Dallas.
The Mobile Backhaul Management Catalyst will create a blueprint for managing mobile backhaul services for Cable MSOs. As a significant market segment, the need for robust, flexible and open platforms to manage new services is critical. This catalyst will demonstrate how cable providers can implement an OSS solution to go to market quickly with services such as, mobile backhaul, by utilizing TMForum standards such as MTOSI, SID, eTOM and/or OSS/J. By using real OSS components to test standards adherence and utilizing Properro program components streamlines integration efforts. This catalyst will initially focus on MTOSI R1.0 (fault management and inventory collection) with MTOSI R2.0 functionality to follow.

‘With Time Warner Cable & other MSOs expanding into new services and market segments, current OSS solutions must broaden their capabilities to meet new operational demands. As our target market expands beyond traditional residential cable services into voice and commercial and carrier services, the need for robust, flexible and open platforms is critical,’ said Jonathan Anderson, VP Network Operations at Time Warner Cable, who works on Corporate Network Operations and OSS Strategy. ‘To architect our OSS to meet dynamic service needs, Time Warner Cable is exploring how industry standards like MTOSI and OSS/J from the TM Forum can support these business requirements , such as developing the ability to manage multiple vendor platforms and EMS's for cell backhaul through a single performance management interface.’
